OPEN STUDIO Day 2
The AIB Open Studio is envisioned as a talent incubator that invites dance professionals, choreographers, dance artists and groups pan-India to present short-duration choreographies they’d conceptualised and created in the past two years. This year, the AIB Open Studio stage presents performances by 10 emerging contemporary Indian dancers.

Dileep Chilanka
Dileep Chilanka is an actor, contemporary dancer & theatre maker from Kerala. Trained in Kalaripayattu, Poorakkali, Yoga, Kathak and ballet, he has devised and performed several theatre productions and plays and won awards and grants along the way.
About performance: Udal (The Body) is an expression of the resistance, resurrection and celebration of oppressed human bodies. The performance seeks to give voice to the various discriminations we face based on markers such as gender, language, class, financial status, colour and education. Udal attempts to convey the reactions these discriminations evoke in our body and mind. The performance incorporates Theyyam, Yakshagana and Thulunadan Kalari along with contemporary dance movements to narrate its story.

Divya Easwaran
A professional dancer, choreographer, educator and artist from Bangalore. A student of Bharatanatyam from when she was 6, Divya was introduced to Hip-hop, popping and breaking in 2009 by Arunn Rathinam. She began exploring movement and music across cultures and learnt waacking, dancehall and African dances. She is a member of Afrontāl — India's first Afro-Caribbean dance crew and is the co-owner of India’s funk and disco event, Retro Rally. She recently worked as a choreographer on the Tamil dance reality show, Dance vs Dance season 2 on Colors TV Tamil. A teacher with a decade-long experience, she is well on her way to starting her own entity that will bring dance and other disciplines of art together.
About performance: Divya Easwaran will be presenting SAMPLES - a three-minute mix of House, Waacking, Afro & Dancehall

B-Girl Jo and B-Boy Shawn
B-Girl Jo and B-Boy Shawn are repping Black Ice Crew Bangalore.
B-girl Jo has been in the breaking scene for eight years. A two-time winner of the Red Bull B-Girl India Cypher, she has represented India thrice on the international stage. Apart from breaking, Jo is an activist for the environment, animals, women and minority communities.
B-Boy Shawn has been breaking since 2010. A seven-time national champion, he has represented India in Taiwan and France. His style is based upon anime and mixes power moves with flow movement.
About performance: The duo will be showcasing a 5-min-long Breaking sequence this evening
