Friday,18 Feb 2022 | 6-8 p.m.
Ten days after the screening, Attakkalari will be hosting a two-hour-long intensive titled Playground. It will be led virtually from Sweden by the Memory Wax team with dance teachers from Attakkalari coordinating it for participants in the studio.
The workshop's main themes are Cooperation, Creativity and Playfulness and the team from Memory Wax will teach students to create interaction, dance and movement using everyday objects. We believe that attending this session which mixes creativity with dance will be a good experience for young minds who need a breather from just staring at screens all the time.
SCREENING & CONVERSATION for kids (9+)
Inside Out
Inside Out is a 30-min-long dance duet that uses the wooden frame as an object and a metaphor. The dance piece seeks to find answers to seemingly profound questions such as: Who are we? What is outside and who is inside?
But it does this by using square wooden frames and tree branches as props to create stories and narratives. By using simple objects, Inside Out shows how trust and friendship can be developed with a bit of play, creativity and cooperation. It is a heart-warming performance that will leave you with a hint of wonder and a sense of hope: Things that everyone, especially young kids who have had to spend the past two years cooped up, could do with. This screening will be followed with a conversation with the makers of the dance piece: Miguel Azcue, Jonas Örknér, Daniel Staley and Johanna Johnson.
