Platform 22

Platform is a constant leitmotif of Attakkalari India Biennial.

A program envisioned to nurture emerging talent in the contemporary movement arts and dance making space in South Asia, past editions have seen original ideas and fresh choreographies being presented by young dancers and choreographers from the south Asian region.  This year is no different. After a  competitive selection process, Platform 22 features four incredibly talented, award-winning dancers who will premiere their full-length independent choreographies on the venerable stage.

1. Priyabrat Panigrahi - Dance company: Citizens Of Stage Co Lab | Bengaluru, India Priyabrat Panigrahi is a Bengaluru-based performer, teacher and choreographer. Trained at the Attakkalari Center For Movement Arts and P.A.R.T.S Contemporary dance school in Brussels, Priyabrat’s focus of interest lies in the intersectionality of dance and somatic practices. He has performed at prestigious international platforms including the Bonjour India Festival, Kalaa Utsavam, The Old Theater Festival and The Hindu Festival.

Priyabrat will be presenting How Long is Forever, a 50-min-long dance production that attempts to transfer the energetic experience of performing to the audience through an interplay of breath, time, energy and space.

2. Sanjukta Sinha - Sanjukta Sinha Dance Company |  Ahmedabad, India Sanjukta Sinha is a dance artist who wears the Kathak technique like a fine cloak draping herself in its opulent traditions with ease. Sanjukta has a wealth of experience performing across local and international arenas. She was awarded the prestigious Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar in 2016 and launched her eponymous dance company in Ahmedabad in October 2019.

Sanjukta Sinha will be presenting Shifting Sands, a 45-mins-long performance that uses Kathak to convey the ubiquitousness of Change and how the essence of life is about adapting to it.
